Injury and Violence Prevention Branch

County-Level Case Studies

In collaboration with the Injury and Violence Prevention Branch (IVPB) at the North Carolina Division of Public Health, a team of graduate students at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health conducted a comprehensive assessment of injury and violence prevention efforts in North Carolina. The purpose of the assessment was to determine the extent to which local health departments in North Carolina are implementing evidence-based injury and violence prevention programs. A survey was distributed to all local health departments, and findings from the survey were used to identify six case studies of local health departments that have been successful in implementing evidence-based programs. The six case studies highlight prevention efforts targeting diverse populations and cover a range of injury and violence prevention topics.

Please see below for summaries of the evidence-based programs implemented and key lessons learned in each county.
